BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Muhammad Mubarak Habib Mohamed is a highly esteemed scholar whose academic journey is marked by a profound commitment to Islamic studies and contemporary issues. He holds a distinguished PhD in Islamic Civilisation and Contemporary Issues from the prestigious Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Centre for Islamic Studies at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. He was under the supervision of Emieritus Professor Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar and Professor Dr, Mulyadhi Kartanegara. Prior to this, he earned a Master of Arts in Islamic Spiritual Culture & Contemporary Society from the esteemed International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC) at the International Islamic University of Malaysia and a Master in Education specialising in Curriculum and Teaching from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. More recently, he graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Psychology from Cambridge Muslim College.

Dr. Muhammad Mubarak Habib Mohamed’s academic accolades are complemented by his extensive teaching experience and contributions to educational institutions. He has a notable history of teaching Physics and Mathematics and winning awards at Temasek Secondary School and Manjusri Secondary School, showcasing his dedication to shaping young minds and fostering academic excellence. Additionally, his role as a lecturer at Jamiyah Education Centre in their Diploma in Shar’iyyah Law and their Diploma in Contemporary Islamic Studies demonstrates his embodiment for the continuous pursue of knowledge and integrating religious and non-religious subjects.

Beyond his formal teaching roles, Dr. Muhammad Mubarak Habib Mohamed is actively involved in various community initiatives and organizations. As a dedicated member of the Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG) Secretariat since 2009, he plays a crucial role in promoting religious understanding and rehabilitation efforts within the community. He actively mentors and tutors detainees and prepares them for re-integration into the society upon their releases. He is also a volunteer with Family and Inmates ThRoughcare Assistance Haven (FITRAH) and conduct religious counselling with Singapore Prison Services. He heads the FITRAH In-Care curriculum team. His longstanding commitment to education and community service is further exemplified by his voluntary teaching contributions at the Muslim Converts’ Association of Singapore since 1998, where he imparts valuable knowledge and guidance to new Muslim converts.

Dr. Muhammad Mubarak has produced some publications in recent years within the area of Islamic Intellectual Thoughts. Some of these are “Religious Minorities in Contemporary Society: Utilizing Wasatiyyah within the Singaporean Muslim Community”, “The Role of Islamic Intellectual Tradition in Countering Extreme Ideologies, “The ‘Mathanian’ Character of the Qur’an: An Approach for a Scientific Exegesis”, “Teaching of Values in Science: Defining Its Universal Values” and others. He also regularly contributes articles to Muslim.sg for the general readers. Dr. Mubarak is also a visiting professor at Institute Agama Islam Latifah Mubarokkiyah Pondok Pesantren Suryalaya Indonesia in the department of Tasawwuf.
